League of Legends: Winners and losers of Patch 11.9

Kindred
Spirit Blossom Kindred. Love her so much.

- With Patch 11.9 coming in a week, think it's time we have a look at those champions who've made the mark in this patch.

- This is a series that'll explore who I believe are the winners and losers of each Patch.

There's a lot coming in Patch 11.9. From analyzing the patch notes for this patch, I've concluded the winners and losers of next season's patch. This patch probably may not have as many changes as previous patches of the beginning of the season but the changes are always impactful; whether it may be big or small. That is something I believe any League player can agree with.

Anyways, this blog will be about my thoughts and opinions on who I believe are the Champions who'll be enjoying this patch and the champions who won't be having as much fun.

Just to clarify, this is my own thoughts and opinions on champions who I believe will benefit or fall off from each new patch of League. Whether you agree or disagree, you can always voice your opinions down below. I really like to hear what folks think about these things.

So without further ado, let us get started.

The Winners

Kayn (Rhaast)

Our favorite edge boy Jungler is getting a buff on his Q; going from dealing 55% AD (+ 5% (+ 4% per 100 bonus AD) of the target's maximum health next >  65% AD (+ 5% (+ 4% per 100 bonus AD) of the target's maximum health in his Red Form only. This means he'll be doing more tank shredding next patch, which is a good thing as with the buffs to Sunfire Aegis we'll be seeing a bit more Tank Junglers present in the jungle.

Kindred

I love Kindred. She's such a fun and aesthetically pleasing champion to play, and a Buff to her is a big win for me every time. Her Q's cooldown is being decreased from 9>8 seconds and the damage is being increased from 40-140 >60-160. This will make her dueling more dangerous and will give her a better chance to win early duels.

Also, this might get more people to play her now.

P.s Run Ignite instead of flash, you're guaranteed to win early fights and secure kills much better. :)

Sett

The DIO man himself, getting a buff? Really? Surely, he just didn't just stop time and wrote himself that buff down or something? Jokes aside though, he is getting that buff. His W Percent of expended Grit dealt as damage is going from 25 +10 per 100 Bonus AD > 25 + 20 per 100 Bonus AD. His R bonus AD ratio is getting boosted from 100% >>> 120%.  This might incite Sett players to build more damage items than tank items for some of that high-risk, high-reward engagements.

Shen

Ah yes, Shen, I still hate him from those ranked moments in Season 10, but yeah he's also getting a buff next patch. His R Shield Value: 175 / 350 / 525 (+135% AP) will now have a HP scaling to it, albeit at the cost of the values being lowered a bit; 120 / 310 / 500 (+17.5% base HP) (+135% AP). This makes his ult so much better as now you can go full tank, instead of needing to include an AP item to your build. (Not sure who does this, I ain't a Shen player.)

The Losers

Hecarim

Hecarim is getting a lot of nerfs next patch, albeit this is targeted at Tank Hecarim more than Damage Hecarim. There's quite a lot of nerfs so I'll be listing them down below.

  • Base Armor: 36 >>> 32
  • Armor Per Level : 4 >>> 4.25
  • Q Bonus Damage Per Rampage Stack:
  • 5% >>> 2% (+1% per 33 bAD)
  • W Healing 30% >>> 30% (+1% per 40 base AD) of damage Hecarim deals. This percentage is halved 15% (+1% per 80 base AD) for damage dealt by allies
  • E Minimum Base Damage: 35 - 155 >>> 30 - 110
  • E Maximum Base Damage: 70 - 310 >>> 60 - 220

So yeah, these changes will definitely put the hurt on Tank Hecarim and although Tank Hecarim will be weaker, he's still a good choice to go to if your team is lacking any Tank. However, once the patch goes through, you might need to start considering Damage Hecarim now, especially since Chemtank is also receiving a nerf to it too.

Taric

Honestly, Taric buff doesn't do much to help his current situation. The Q Mana Cost: 70 - 110 >>> 70 - 90 buff doesn't absolutely nothing to help you. Sure, you can spam Q more, but the only use yourself is if you're paired with Master Yi and that's that. Unless Riot gives you the big wave then there's nothing much going for Taric.

Xerath

Now I don't blame Riot for having to buff Mages like Xerath. In the current meta of resurfacing Tank Junglers and dominant Assassins, Mages are just having it bad. However, of all the buffs they could have given him, it had to be just a Q Damage buff 80 - 240 (+75% AP) >>> 70 - 230 (+90% AP) and a W Damage buff 60-180 (+60% AP) >>> 60 - 200 (+65% AP). Yes, you'll be doing more damage overall, but, in the long run, Xerath is outdated. His passive provides him with nothing else entirely. Some extra mana is nice but not if you're already dead, to begin with.
